Layout

Info
Speakers need to be equally spaced around the cable tray on the sales floor. NO speakers are to be install in the warehouse, office, or other areas.
Rectangular sales floor (most common) -  2 speakers on the short wall and 4 on the longer wall.
Alert
Speakers should NOT be placed within 10-15' of the cash wrap or front door.
Make sure to not place speakers at the end (corner) of cable tray - this will reduce their coverage area. DG understands that with the cable tray layout that ideal coverage across the entire sales floor may not be possible.

Cable Install

Begin at the location of the furthest speaker from the office and begin installing the white 18/2 cable.

Cable Tray Stores (Most Common)

Idea
To help keep cable from falling out of the tray, use a zip tie around a bar on the tray and feed the cable through it

When you reach the office make sure to pull enough cable to neatly bring the cable down the wall (can be added to other LV cable bundles) and to the location of the amp/player with enough for a small ( 2'-3') service loop.

Drop Ceiling Stores

Install the speaker cable above the drop ceiling - to assure no code violations the cable MUST NOT be laying on the tiles. Zip tie it ceiling support rods, beams, etc
Warning
DO NOT ATTACH CABLE TO ANY SPRINKLER LINES, OR FIRE ALARM CABLES (RED CABLES)

Speaker Install

Info
Speakers need to set (tapped) at position 3 - 5W

Cable Tray

  1. Begin install speaker from the furthest point from the cable box.
  2. Set / Tap speaker at 5W
    Speaker - Tap Setting
  3. Loop the speaker bracket around the outside of the cable tray facing into the sales floor. Speakers will be installed upside down (speaker taps toward the ceiling)
    1. Zip tie the speaker bracket to the cable tray for support and to align the speaker in a vertical position.
  4. Poke a small hole in the tray liner to run the cable out of.
    1. Splice the speaker cable, strip back the inner jackets
      Speaker - Tray Install
  5. Wire the speakers - red to red / black to black
    1. Make sure to not have exposed wire - strip enough to securely insert in speaker tap without leaving extra.
  6. Repeat the process for the remaining speakers.
Idea
To help identify the speaker cable in the tray among the many other similar cables - leave a small pulling loop hanging out the tray to quickly identify your cable

Drop Ceiling

Follow the same procedure as cable tray except the speakers need to wall mount (must be anchored) horizontal as close the the drop ceiling as possible

Office Install

Place the amp and player on the shelf (space permitting) or install a shelf for the equipment.
Warning
DO NOT UNPLUG THE SATELLITE RECEIVER

Test / Train / Completion

  1. The player takes 2-5 minutes to boot up before you will hear audio.
  2. Walk around and confirm all speakers are playing music.
  3. The music will cut out after about a minute and the player will reboot - this confirms the player is checking in and communicating.
  4. After confirming the player is communicating, offer to train manager (Often store manager isnt onsite and its just project manager who is already familiar)
  5. Let store know that the music will cut in and out a few times while its updating, but after its first download it will download afterhours going forward.
  6. The player updates at random times, content is not delivered on a specific day / date.
  7. Note the player TAG# on dispatch.

Training

  1. Do not disconnect the or modify the player
  2. To turn the music off - power off the amp
  3. Set volume to a level based on store noise level after opening
  4. Dont worry about turning volume to max - the speakers are tapped to not blow or scratch

No Network

If the internet or network equipment has not been installed yet. Attach a patch cable to the player and affix a note stating:
Once internet is live, connect to Meraki Port 17 and connect power to player

The player is loaded with demo content and will still play so you can test - it just wont check in / reboot

Completion

  1. Update dispatch
  2. Breakdown boxes - place with other cardboard
  3. Dispose of any trash
